Hours before Hurricane Irma made her full blown reach to the Lowcountry, the waves in the Atlantic were showing the effects of this powerful storm. Knowing there wasn't a whole lot of time to get on and then back off of Folly Island before the flooding began, I still felt the need to attempt to capture the powerful surf. While there were multiple compositions to be had, I couldn't ignore the aggressive thrashing that was happening under the Folly Pier.
While under the structure, I had a fresh realization of just how powerful nature can be. If this little piece of the world is experiencing this kind of force, I cannot imagine what others like the Caribbean Islands, Puerto Rico, Florida, Houston and many more recently suffered. Godspeed to every single one of them while they piece their lives back together and show us the true definition of resilience.
Due to the overwhelming response, Irma's Approach will be available for print, for a limited time. I want to give a huge "thank you" to each and every one of you that have responded with so many positive and encouraging comments. That short time under the pier resulted in so much more than I could have ever imagined.
